Transparency & Fairness

We believe every draw should be fair, transparent, and easy to understand. Here's how our platform works, how winners are selected, and where your money goes.

How the draws work

Once a campaign closes, all eligible entries are included in the draw. A computer program then randomly selects the winning ticket numbers using a secure random process. The process is overseen by a member of the UWIN team, and all winner selections are recorded for auditing purposes.

How winners are chosen

Each entry receives one or more ticket numbers depending on the number of entries purchased. Every ticket has exactly the same chance of being selected.

For example, if a participant has 50 tickets and another participant has 100 tickets, the second participant has twice as many chances because they hold twice as many tickets.

For the technically curious: We use PHP's random_int() function, which generates a cryptographically secure random number. The system selects a number from the complete range of available tickets.

Winner verification

After a winner has been selected, a UWIN representative contacts them to confirm their identity and eligibility. Once verified, winners may choose whether their name is publicly announced, subject to our winner announcement policy.

Redraws

If a winner cannot be contacted, does not respond within the stated timeframe, or is found to be ineligible, a replacement winner may be selected using the same random draw process. Please make sure your contact details are kept up to date!

Prizes

Where prizes come from

Prizes may be provided by partners, sponsors, or purchased by UWIN. Where a prize has a cost, this is deducted before revenue shares are calculated.

Payments and billing

Where your money goes

Every campaign clearly explains how funds are distributed before you enter. This includes the amount allocated to charities, prize costs, and operational costs. After each completed campaign, a final report is produced showing the outcome and the funds distributed.

Regulation

Draw records

For every completed draw, we keep a record of the selection process, including:

  • Date and time of the draw
  • Number of entries included
  • Winning ticket information
  • Software and draw process details
  • Winner verification history

These records help ensure every draw can be reviewed and independently verified.

Security and data protection

Your privacy

Your personal information is handled securely and is only used for purposes connected with your entry, prize fulfilment, and legal obligations. We do not share participant information with charities or sponsors unless required and permitted.

Frequently asked questions

Does buying more entries increase my chances?

Yes. Each entry represents one ticket in the draw. Every ticket has an equal chance of being selected, so having more tickets gives you more chances to win.

Can I enter for free?

Yes. We accept postal entries. These entries are added to the draw system alongside all other entries and are treated equally. Free entries must follow the instructions provided in the campaign terms.

Can UWIN choose the winner?

No. Winners are selected using a cryptographically secure random draw process. The selection process is designed so that nobody at UWIN can manually choose the outcome.

Can a winner be redrawn?

Yes. If the selected winner cannot be contacted, does not respond within the stated timeframe, or is found to be ineligible, another winner may be selected using the same draw process.

How much money goes to charity?

On average, around 70% goes direct to the charities. The allocation does vary by campaign, however it is always clearly stated alongside the prize and entry information.
